Research Underlines Pet Insurance and Pet Trade PR and Content Expertise

Catapult PR is reinforcing its pet insurance and pet trade PR and content thought leadership, by publishing the results of three years of research amongst pet parents.

‘Feeling the Pulse of UK Pet Owners’ summarises what pet parents think of pet insurance and other topics relating to their pet and is available as a free download at the Catapult PR website, to the benefit of any pet brand.

Commissioned to support the agency’s expertise in PR and content writing for pet insurance companies and pet product retailers, the booklet contains findings from three years of consumer surveys. This independent research was commissioned through YouGov and Censuswide, 2022-24.

The research assesses the reaction of pet owners to external factors such as the pandemic and then the cost of living crisis. Within this context, it examines the attitude towards pet insurance and veterinary care. It also ascertains the personal sacrifices that pet owners would make for their pet, to feed them or provide them with veterinary care.

It then focuses on a wide range of other topics of relevance to pet owners, such as pet theft, theft precautions and punishments for this crime, pet loss and grief, dog attacks and dog walking.

Given its timespan of over three years, the research has allowed Catapult PR to identify sentiments about certain topics over a long period of time and assess which external influences or stories in the news might colour pet parents’ opinions.

As part of the PR launch of this thought leadership content for the pet sector, Catapult PR has interviewed Brian Johnson, the ‘dad’ of adorable Twitter and Instagram dog, Pip the Golden Retriever.

A podcast, featuring Brian, features on Catapult PR’s leisure podcast channel, Poodling Around, and explores a little bit about Pip and Brian’s life, as well as including Brian’s thoughts on the research findings and the sentiment evident amongst pet parents, with regard to some of the fundamental aspects of the pet companionship human-animal relationship.

Catapult PR’s managing director, Jane Hunt, interviews Brian, offering her own views about certain topics too and her own reflections on life as a former Golden Retriever owner.

The research findings and podcast will form the basis of social media posts, audiograms, press releases, online articles and other marketing materials, in the coming months, as Catapult PR underlines its pet marketing expertise, both in terms of PR and content, for both pet insurance and pet product retailers within the pet trade and wider industry.

This includes award-winning work but also some pet-associated initiatives for businesses which are not in the pet trade but which do offer hospitality and tourism services that are open to dog owners.

Jane Hunt says, “I have personally worked in the pet insurance world since 1993 and in pet product promotion since 1994, so always want to keep Catapult PR’s finger on the pulse, when it comes to knowing what dog and cat parents are thinking. This body of research, conducted over three years, has helped crystallise opinions on some key topics. We hope pet insurers and pet product retailers will build this insight into their marketing.”

With award-winning and high profile pet insurance and pet product PR and marketing campaigns under its belt, the Catapult PR team will be doing exactly the same. The aim will be, as always, to create results-oriented content – for use in traditional media and online – for any pet sector client wanting top-level marketing expertise and a proven fresh-thinking-based approach.

The consultancy’s expertise in insurance, in general, also stretches back to 1993 and has covered almost every type of insurance PR and content, making Catapult PR an agency with tons of financial services PR expertise. Very many PR awards have been won for financial services PR campaigns.
